If December 21, 2012 is the Doomsday date which brings the end of the world, Amazon is suggesting customers take notice of their latest new releases in movies on Blu-ray or DVD. So if the Mayans are correct, what will the final movie releases be on Friday 12/21?
So is life as humans on Earth have known it coming to an end in just a matter of days? The Mayans believe it will, and Amazon is having a bit of fun with that idea as they release films on DVD and Blu-ray, including Total Recall starring Colin Farrell. As noted on a post from Amazon.com's Movies & TV Facebook:
"If the Mayans were right and the world ends Friday, these will be our last new releases. So, with three days to go, let's decide--what was humanity's greatest cinematic achievement?"
That has prompted a bunch of comments with Facebook users giving their choices for top movies of all time. Some of the answers include Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz, The Godfather, and Ben Hur. Among the newer choices are Argo and Tree of Life, one of which was up for Best Picture, and the other which should be this coming Oscars (if they still happen).
If this is the final week of new releases, does it even make sense for anyone to purchase movies like the reboot of Total Recall, Pitch Perfect, or Trouble with the Curve on DVD or Blu-ray? It seems like a strange way to promote these films to prospective customers, but whatever works!
If Friday is the last day of Earth's existence and you were going to watch a movie on that last day, which one would it be?
