As Black Friday 2012 ads continue to get leaked online, the latest news is that Sears will be offering their special deals 5 days ahead of the big shopping day. The bricks and mortar retailer has positioned themselves ahead of other retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy, both of whom have revealed their early sales deals already.
With Black Friday leaked ads coming from a variety of stores including the two aforementioned, Sears is the latest to join the mix. A new report claims that Sears will begin offering its online "doorbuster" deals as of November 18th. Customers will need to be part of a "Shop Your Way" program, which is free to join online or in stores, in order to take advantage of the early deals. The early deals will be extended through 11:59 p.m. CT on November 19th for these particular sales.
With this, Sears is looking to use a strategy that other consumers such as Walmart, Amazon, and others are with targeting the early shoppers. A recent CNN.com Money article brings comments from NPD Group's chief industry analyst, Marshal Cohen, who says of early shopping strategies:
"Retailers rely on the early consumer because their wallet is full. The early consumer is clearly the most profitable one and gives you longevity."
Basically, the early deals may entice many shoppers to pick up those great gifts before the big rush to the stores goes down the day after Thanksgiving. However, some traditional Black Friday fans love the thrill of the hunt, and the idea of camping out in the cold to be among the first of the crowd to get doorbuster deals that day. Others prefer to just avoid all the craziness and shop from home at websites such as Amazon, Walmart, or Sears.com.
With the recent concerns surrounding the economy going forward the next few years, it should be quite interesting to see if all the early excitement helps at all, and if Black Friday and Cyber Monday show a good rise in profits for retailers.
Do you prefer shopping early deals from stores ahead of Black Friday, or do you enjoy being part of the mayhem and madness that takes place in stores the day after Thanksgiving?
