Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus might just join The X Factor to fill the fourth vacant judging seat on the show. But is Simon Cowell making a smart decision by considering the former Disney stars?
According to Contact Music, Miley has been in talks with Simon to fill one of the seats left by Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. It's previously been reported that Britney Spears is close to snagging one of the spots.
Miley would certainly make an interesting choice - she's not a great singer by any stretch of the imagination, but she does have plenty of experience in the entertainment industry. She has been focusing more on her movie career lately, so she might not have the time it takes to be a judge on The X Factor. However, Miley Cyrus's latest movie LOL basically became a direct-to-DVD release, so it certainly wouldn't hurt her to explore other options.
Unfortunately for Miley, it looks like Demi Lovato might be the one who snags the fourth judging slot. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Demi is "closing a deal" to join the show after season 1. It might end up falling through, but the Sonny with a Chance star is reportedly in final negotiations.
Demi might be a better choice since she's currently more focused on music than Miley Cyrus, and she's a more talented singer. Demi would also make a great mentor for the younger contestants on the show after all she's been through - she could kind of serve as a source of inspiration for the competitors as well as an example of what not to do after becoming a star.
So why did Simon Cowell go after Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus? He's already got the next Justin Bieber in boy band One Direction, which was formed on the U.K. version of The X Factor, so maybe now he's looking for the next Hannah Montana. Perhaps he's hoping that Demi or Miley will be able to spot a young star that has that "it" factor that helped them make it as actresses and musicians, or maybe he's just hoping that their legions of dedicated fans will tune in to watch them on the show.
So what do you think - would Demi or Miley be a good fit on the show, or are the 19-year-olds just too young to make good talent judges?
