On Monday, Chick-Fil-A, the restaurant that claims to have invented the chicken sandwich, plans to introduce grilled nuggets to its kids menu. Along with the new grilled chicken nuggets, applesauce will be offered as a new side option in addition to a fruit cup and small waffle fries.
These new Chick-Fil-A grilled nuggets weigh in with just 80 calories and one gram of fat for the four-count kids menu option. The regular, fried nuggets have 130 calories and 6 grams of fat. Obviously, this new grilled option make them a lower calorie choice for children who frequent the restaurant. Of course, will kids buy the new flavor? Perhaps. That depends on how the chicken actually tastes.
Mark Baldwin, Chick-Fil-A spokesperson, said, "Everybody else has been dancing around and dabbling with the side options, but from what we know we're the only ones taking a stab at the main entrée."
What do you think about the new option? Is it enough to help improve the health of children in the U.S.? Will you order the new grilled nuggets for your children? How often do you eat at the ever-popular Chick-Fil-A chain? The chain already offers enriching toys in their kids meals, so it is heartening to see them moving toward additional healthy choices.
