While some customers may not have been thrilled with recent McDonald's price increases, the fast-food giant's sales have risen despite rising costs for its food. Nobody expected the burger chain to have a 15 percent profit.
Perhaps McDonald's huge push with their new McCafe beverages has been a major success with customers. Especially because of the economic problems combined with the massive heat wave the U.S. is experiencing, consumers like taking their "me time" with one of the icy drinks just like the restaurant's marketing suggests. Do you drink the new McCafe line?
Their dollar soft drinks is also a major draw. People appreciate being able to pick up a large soda or sweet tea for just a buck. Recently, that has been tough to do anywhere else.
President-Chief Operating Officer Don Thompson said, "Our performance has been driven by a combination of everyday value, the introduction of compelling new menu items, a sustained focus on core favorites and an ongoing emphasis on improving restaurant operations."
Are you surprised to hear the McDonald's profits are rising despite the fact that obesity is so talked about and so many groups are against its Happy Meals? How often do you eat there? What do you buy? Has their marketing strategy changed your purchasing habits?
