Hewlett Packard has announced a battery recall. The HP battery recall affects thousands of laptop batteries. 54,000 lithium ion-batteries have been recalled.
The affected batteries are in HP and Compaq lap top computers. The computers were sold online and in stores from August 2007 to July 2008. The reason for the recall is reports of injuries. The injuries are due to the batteries overheating and rupturing on people using the lap tops.
In addition to being sold with the computers, the batteries were also sold separately as backup batteries for lap tops. There is no word on how this recall will affect HP stock prices. Hopefully since it is small it will not cause a big problem.
Thankfully this is a smaller recall compared to other recent lap top battery recalls. Recently Sony had to recall 10 million batteries that most major manufacturers used in their products.
